Kvaerner is a leading specialist in the project management, design, engineering, procurement, construction, installation and hook-up of new-build offshore oil and gas platforms. In addition, we offer the same services for medium-sized and major modifications and upgrades of existing platforms.

We provide turnkey EPCI services to upgrade platforms to increase their field life and/or install new large modules and functions to facilitate new satellite tie-ins.

Feasibility and conceptual engineering studies are also part of Kvaerner’s offering to extend the lifetime of our clients’ assets.

Kvaerner can safely and cost-effectively provide upgrades and modifications of the following types of offshore platforms:

  • Fixed production platforms
  • Semi-submersible floating production platforms
  • Floating production, storage and offloading units (FPSOs)

Ongoing projects:

Njord Future Project:
Kvaerner is currently conducting a complete upgrade of Equinor’s Njord A floating production platform. This projrect includes upgrading of hull and topside, a scope which will enable the platform to produce oil and gas for decades ahead. The platform will also be upgraded to receive oil and gas from the adjacent Bauge, Hyme and Fenja fields.

Johan Sverdrup Phase 2:
Kvaerner has in a 50/50 joint venture with Aker Solutions  been awarded a letter of intent with Equinor for modifications of the riser platform and the field center for the Johan Sverdrup development.
