Kvaerner provides fixed and floating substructures as well as converter platforms for offshore wind developments.

Building on decades of experience from demanding offshore oil and gas projects, Kvaerner completed its first offshore wind project in 2008, when six steel tripod substructures and piles for offshore wind turbines were supplied to Germany’s first open sea wind farm. Kvaerner can supply both fixed and floating wind turbine foundations for offshore wind developments, including:

  • Steel jacket substructures
  • Gravity based structures (GBS) in concrete or steel
  • Floating substructures in concrete or steel
  • Converter platforms (topsides and substructures)

Kvaerner also offers additional services such as load-out, sea-fastening, transportation and installation of the foundations and topsides through our highly experienced marine operations  unit.  

Kvaerner has also established strategic partnerships with concept owners for floating turbine foundations, and with reputable original equipment manufacturer for converter platform topsides for offshore substations/gridstations.

With Kvaerner’s unique know-how within field developments, concept development and optimisation, construction methods and installation, we are qualified to take on the role as EPCI integrator of Balance of Plant contracts.
