Assembly start for Johan Sverdrup Riser Platform jacket

22 January 2016 - On 14 January the first RP jacket leg lift was performed at Kvaerner’s yard in Verdal. This was four days ahead of schedule, and a milestone marking the start-up at the outdoor assembly area.

Two cranes lifted the 120 tonnes section into position to be joined with two more sections and finally make up one complete jacket leg.

The following day the next section was lifted in place, and welding preparations started immediately.

Kvaerner will deliver three jackets for the Johan Sverdrup field, which is the largest industry project of our time. The riser platform jacket is the biggest and most complex one from Kvaerner so far. Delivery is scheduled for the summer of 2017.
